Homework is valuable for helping pupils make rapid progress in learning, develop skills learned in lessons and utilise sources of information that are not always available in the classroom. It allows pupils the opportunity to develop the practice of working independently. This method of working is vital at thelater stages of secondary education and beyond. At Caedmon we have a system whereby there are two types of homework.

Long Homeworks: These last for a period of between two and ten weeks. There should be one long homework per term from each humanities subject and technology. Teachers may design the homework so that tasks are broken down into more manageable sections so that all pupils can stay on tract and complete it by the due date.
Short Homeworks: These will be set each week in maths, science, English (literacy), ICT and MFL and would usually last no more than 15 minutes. These can be written work but can also be preparation exercises, revision, research or reading.

The nature of the homework will vary between year groups, different classes and topics of study.
